APC candidate criticizes FG over fuel scarcity
Buhari
lamented the amount of valuable man hours that would be spent at fuel
stations saying that the trend would reduce the nation’s productivity.
The APC candidate bared his mind on the issue via a series of tweets on Tuesday, March 3.
“The
countless man hours that will be spent at petrol stations today, will
reduce our productivity as a nation. This should not be so,” Buhari tweeted.
“In my time as
NNPC chairman and Petroleum Minister in the late 70s, 2 of our 4
refineries were built, and domestic consumption catered for. We must
reject a system that has turned one of world's largest crude exporters
into an importer of petrol. Things must change,” he added.
“But over the last several years our refineries have declined, and we are at the mercy of imports,” Buhari said.
The fuel scarcity began during the weekend and marketers have said that the trend is likely to continue till next week.
The spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign organization, Femi Fani-Kayode earlier accused the APC of being behind the scarcity.
